A highlight for many of Borneo's visitors, Sepilok is the largest of three orangutan rehabilitation centres in the world. Despite being one of the most instantly recognisable animals on the planet, orangutans are critically endangered with only 60,000 remaining in the wild, and the centre rehabilitates captured, injured or abandoned apes. The animals here are taught how to make nests and how to survive in their natural habitat.
