Weather can greatly impact your holiday in terms of what you can visit, how much you enjoy being outside, plus flight prices and how busy tourist attractions are. Everyone will feel differently about these aspects so we have provided an overview of what to expect throughout the year.

Dry Season

May to October.

Generally speaking, the dry season has the best weather with the lowest rainfall of the year. If you want amazing weather on your trip to Peru, this is the season for you.

It is worth noting that flight prices in this period will be higher and there will be more crowds, particularly at the popular sites like Machu Picchu.

Wet Season

November to April.

As the name suggests, there is a higher chance of rain in this season, especially in January and February.

If the rain doesn’t put you off you will find cheaper flight prices and fewer people, so travelling in this period can save money and allow you to enjoy a quieter Peru.

Shoulder season

Referring to the transition months between the wet and dry seasons, specifically this includes April or May, at the end of the rainy months and the beginning of the dry season, and October or November when the rainy season is starting, but you’ll still enjoy lots of sunshine. In both these periods the crowds will be a little greater than during the wet season but they won’t be anywhere near as large as during the dry season. Equally travelling to Peru in this season provides a middle ground in terms of flight prices.
