The North
Elqui Valley has an important role in the wine production of Chile. It is an amazing destination for great wine tastings and vineyard tours. The valley is known for its primary grapes, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. Falernia is a fantastic winery offering fabulous Chardonnay, whose rich, floral and fruity aroma will linger on your palate long enough to remind you to get a bottle of it. The amazing Cavas del Valle vineyard and winery offers organic products created in the most traditional ways.
Known for its fabulous landscapes and the amazing white wine, Limarí Valley is another wine region in Chile you should visit. With Napa Valley-like weather, the primary grapes found in the vineyards of Limarí Valley are Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and the star - Chardonnay. Viña Tabalí located on the southern bank of Chile's beautiful Limarí Valley offers an earthy and juicy Pinot Noir not to be missed, and the boutique Mayacas del Limari also offers exquisite Pinot Noir. The Centre
Casablanca Valley is known for being one of the cooler Chilean wine regions and offers enthusiasts and connoisseurs top quality wines, in particular Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The delightful Casas del Bosque is one of Chile’s best makers of crisp, pungent Sauvignon Blanc and has carved a niche for itself in the wine industry for sea salt flavoured white wines. Make sure you try the Winemaker's Selection Sauvignon Blanc, whilst delighting in lunch at the onsite restaurant, Tanino. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir on offer at Viña Morandé are amazing.
The most well-known wine region in Chile is located in the picturesque landscape of the Maipo Valley, offering some of the country’s finest red wines from the primary grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, and Syrah. The area is famous for the similarity between the full-bodied red blends produced in Alto Maipo and the Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, and is also known as the ‘Bordeaux of South America’. Enhance your visit here by visiting De Martino vineyard and tasting their spicy Estate Carménère; one of the best in the world. Aquitania is another vineyard producing exceptional elegant Carménère, amongst bottle after bottle of other high-quality wine.
Known as Chile’s Napa Valley, Colchagua Valley it is definitely a must visit if you want to try some of the best wines in Chile. The warm climate here is interrupted by the cool ocean breeze, making it the prime region for the Bordeaux variety to thrive. Try the elegant fruity reds of the enchanting Lapostolle winery and enjoy stargazing while tasting the delicious, intense Sauvignon Blanc at Viña Santa Cruz.
