Overall, for the best weather it is advisable that you visit Ecuador between December and April. Although it is the rainy season the weather is nice and warm and the rain consists mostly of tropical bursts in the afternoon. This is the most pleasant time to visit the coast, particularly if you enjoy lying on the beach, and the amazon will be cooler. Do be aware though that there will be more mosquitoes at this time of year. In contrast the dry season is quite cold and coastal activities are not as enjoyable.

There is no best or worst time to climb the mountains as they make their own weather, and the summit may not reflect the weather down below.  

The Galapogas also experiences its best weather between December and April/May, although wildlife is visible and active throughout the year. For specific wildlife timings speak to one of our specialists.

Be aware that within this range December to January and Easter are peak seasons in Ecuador and the crowds will increase, although Ecuador rarely feels overcrowded. This is with the exception of The Galapagos which may feel much less remote than you imagined at busy times. You will need to book well in advance if booking in peak season whereas there is more flexibility outside of this.
