Ecuador Discovery
Day 1: Quito
Arrive in Quito, the capital of Ecuador which is famed for its high vantage point in the Andean mountains.
Day 2 to 3: Tena
Take a guided tour of Quito to get to know the capital's most impressive sights. Admire the colonial-era architecture, picturesque plazas and stroll through the narrow streets of the city centre. Then you will journey through the Ecuadorian highlands and down into the rainforest, headed for Tena, in the Amazon, and a lodge in the heart of the jungle.
The next day, set off for a wildlife walk through the Amazon. Look out for tropical wildlife and appreciate the sheer scale and beauty of the jungle. You can then relax until the evening when you will enjoy a fascinating night walk to admire the nocturnal wildlife as the rainforest comes to life.
Day 4 to 5: Quito
Today you will head back to the capital. Along the way visit the Middle of the World Monument, on the equator, where you can stand with one foot in each hemisphere.
Spend the next day in Quito at your leisure, exploring the city or simply taking some time to enjoy the beautiful climate and natural environment.
Optional Quilotoa Crater Lake Excursion:
*HIGHLY RECOMMENDED*: One of the highlights of any Ecuador adventure, set off through the Andean Mountains, passing by the exceptional peaks of Tungurahua and Chimborazo. Visit the spectacular Quilotoa Crater Lake, known for its everchanging colour.
Day 6 to 8: Galapagos (San Cristobal)
This morning you will take a flight to the Galapagos Islands, a true natural wonder known for its extraordinary biodiversity. The first island that Charles Darwin explored during his research into the islands, San Cristobal is the easternmost island and is home to a rich array of unique wildlife, such as blue and red-footed boobies, marine iguanas, and Galapagos sea lions. Take a tour of Baquerizo Moreno, the capital of the Galapagos Province, and explore this quaint coastal community to get to know its most important sights. Relax for the remainder of the day.
The following day set off on a full-day tour of San Cristobal to explore the delights of the island. Visit Galapaguera for amazing giant tortoises and Puerto Chino for the diverse species of sea birds. The white sand here is perfect for a short rest before continuing to La Loberia, home to a large colony of sea lions.
On your final day in this wonderland, have a fabulous time exploring the Galapagos on your own.
Day 9 to 10: Guayaquil
After leaving the Galapagos, take a flight to Guayaquil, the largest city in Ecuador on the Pacific Coast. Enjoy a walking tour of the city visiting the Malecon, Paque Iguanas and Las Peñas neighbourhood.
Spend the next day at your leisure in Guayaquil or take an optional excursion to Puerto Moro for a dolphin-watching boat trip.
Optional Boat Excursion to Puerto Morro:
From Guayaquil, visit the charming fishing village of Puerto Morro. Take a boat ride through the mangroves to watch colourful Ibis birds and look out for playful pods of dolphin.
Day 11: Guayaquil
Today you leave Ecuador and arrive home the following day.
