Discover Colombia
Day 1 to 3: Bogota
Fly to Bogota, Colombia’s vibrant capital and explore the city. Take a tour, stopping at sites such as the Candelaria neighbourhood, the Gold Museum to see the collection of 55,000 gold pieces, Plaza de Bolivar and Monserrate Monastery by cable car.
Day 4: Salt Cathedral
Head to the town of Zipaquira to see the remarkable Salt Cathedral, one of Colombia’s most unusual attractions. Following your time here you will travel to the lively city of Cali.
Day 5: Cali
Take an exciting tour of Cali today and then take time to relax or explore yourself. You could grab a coffee, stroll through the streets or even take an exuberant salsa class.
Day 6 and 7: Coffee country
Depart Cali for Colombia's lush coffee region where you can take a half-day coffee tour to learn all about process of growing coffee, from harvesting the red beans in the misty forests all the way to it arriving as a delicious cup of Arabica coffee. The highlight is a sample tasting of the final product at the end of your tour.
The following day, travel to the little town of Filandia and then hop into a Jeep for the journey to the Cocora Valley, for an intoxicating walk through the cloud forest. Here you will see lots of palma de cera, Colombia's national tree. Continue on to the quant town of Salento, and take in the local architectire.
Day 8 and 10: Medellin
After a morning taking in the beautiful surroundings, you will fly to the city of Medellin.
Colombia’s second largest city is a leafy, progressive and creative metropolis. Have a full day tour including a cable car to Cerro Nutibara for a wonderful view over the city, admiring the sculptures of Colombian artist Fernando Botero and the Metropolitan Cathedral.
Today travel outside the city for a tour of La Piedra del Peñol. Hike the 700-steps to the top, where you will be rewarded with views across the huge reservoir below. Continue to the town of Guatape where you’ll wander the streets lined with vividly coloured buildings.
Day 11: Santa Marta
Fly to you next stop, the Caribbean seaside city of Santa Marta, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Enjoy some leisure time here.
Day 12: Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona
Today you get to explore the exotic coastline of the Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona, visiting the Sea of the Seven Waves, a natural viewpoint from which to enjoy the natural landscape. Then take a cruise over to Playa Cristal, a beautiful beach where you can take a refreshing dip.
Day 13 and 15: Cartagena
A UNESCO World Heritage site, your next stop is the Caribbean port city of Cartagena. This intoxicating city encapsulates all the charm of Spanish colonial architecture, with the old town being a joy to explore.
Today you will take a tour of Colombia's most popular destination. You will visit Bolivar Park, San Felipe Fortress and finally the Convent and Church of San Pedro Claver in the Ciudad Vieja (old town).
On your final day you can either enjoy some downtime in Cartagena, or join a day tour to one of the islands that make up the coral archipelago of Rosario. Relax on a stunning beach or, for the more active, kayak or snorkel to explore its beauty further.
Day 16: Fly home
