Here are some Colombia highlights for families:

Parque Explora, Medellín: this is the ultimate child-friendly activity. A learning centre, aquarium, miniature zoo, playground, and picnic spot make this an excellent day trip. It is adjacent to the Botanical Gardens, where you can stop for lunch and watch wild iguanas roaming alongside the lake.

The Bogota Ciclovia: take a family bike ride through Bogota on a Sunday joining thousands of locals taking advantage of miles of roads being temporarily shut down.

Snorkelling in San Andrés: just a short flight away from the mainland, the Caribbean island of San Andres is fantastic for children, with many beautiful glistening beaches and warm water. Explore the magical reefs and join your children in discovering this awesome world, and take a boat tour to explore the lovely bays surrounding the island.

Valle del Cocora: whilst children might not actually be able to drink the coffee, the landscapes and activities available in this region are great for children. Take an interactive coffee tour, pick the ripe coffee beans and witness the big, noisy machines. In addition, take a hike around the region and have fun running and walking under the huge wax palms.

Cali Zoo: Colombia’s best zoo is run by a conservation foundation, and is committed to researching and preserving native Colombian species. With 90% of the animals native to Colombia, the highlights of this zoo are the primate, amphibian, and butterfly exhibits.

Cartagena and Caribbean Coast: Cartagena is a lovely place to walk around with kids, enjoying food and ice cream and enjoying the warm weather. A trip along the coast to the Tayrona National Park will be a fabulous trip with children, exploring the forests, the small bays and swimming in the warm waters.
