After some free time in the morning, take the journey into the Salar de Uyuni, arriving into the town of Uyuni this evening.
Day 4 to 6: Salt Flat Exploration
After breakfast we head out in 4WD vehicles to explore the vast Salt Flats full of stunning lakes, deserts and volcanoes. Start at the Train Cemetery, and travel on to Colchani village to see the mining of the salt, before heading into the Salar. Your guide will explain how the unique area formed geologically as we make our way to Huasi Island in the shadow of the beautiful Tunupa Volcano. The day ends as we arrive into San Juan village.
Start the second day by continuing south along the Salt Flats to reach Canapa Lagoon to spot pink flamingos and other birdlife. In the afternoon head to the Red Lagoon, a breathtaking Wildlife Sanctuary home to three species of Andean flamingo.
After sunrise over the Sol de Manana Volcano Crater, experience steaming geysers and brightly boiling volcanic mud pools. Enjoy a hot spring at Challviri Lagoon and then head down through the barren Dali's Desert which offers unrivalled views out over the southwestern tip of Bolivia. Look out for Licancabur Volcano cradling the beautiful Green Lagoon in the distance. The tour ends at this point as you travel back to Uyuni.
