when to go to canada
Canada is a vast country, and the weather can be quite different in the East compared to the West.
Below we have provided a guide to Canada’s tourist seasons. We hope this helps you to decide the best time to visit.
April
April is too warm for winter sports as the snow has gone, and too early in the season for summer activities, as many tourist attractions do not open until later in the year. If you decide to visit at this time of year the best option is to discover the cities.
May to June
This is a great time to visit Canada as there are fewer tourists and prices are reasonable. These months will show you new leaves in the trees and you’ll find that nature is in full bloom.
July and August
This is the peak tourist season right across Canada. For the most popular attractions and locations, you will need to plan well in advance to be sure of availability. Cities and national parks are very busy and prices are high. Days can be very hot at this time of year.
September and October
In these months the forests don their brilliant hues of red and gold and nature is in full splendour.
The weather is still very pleasant, especially in September, but it starts to get cooler in the evening. There are fewer tourists which means that prices are generally lower. This is a perfect time to have a Canada adventure.
November
November is not the best time for travel in Canada. It can be cold and rainy, and there are no more leaves in the trees. As with April, travel at this time should be used to explore the fantastic cities.
December to March
If winter activities are for you, this is a great time to enjoy Canada, which offers incredible exciting winter fun such as snowmobiling and dog sledding, as well as skiing and snowboarding. The Christmas and New Year period is extremely busy and if you choose to visit Canada at this time you need to plan well in advance.
