The chaotic city of Kathmandu is an assault on the senses. You feel its uniqueness as you drive through the streets enroute to your hotel from Tribhuvan International Airport. Kathmandu offers beautiful temples and stupas, the lively Thamel district and bustling bazaars. You will not regret spending a few days experiencing the capital. The Kathmandu Valley provides amazing opportunities to immerse yourself in Nepali culture. The UNESCO World Heritage site of Bandipur is a picture postcard town of incredible traditional architecture. You will also find exciting rafting adventures within easy reach of the capital. Take a trip down Trishuli River and stay on the river banks.
Pokhara is a beautiful second city set on the banks of Phewa Lake under the watchful eye of the Annupurna Range. There are many experiences to be had, such as walking up to the World Peace Pagoda for amazing views of the city below, taking a boat out on the serene lake, or whiling away some time wandering through the city and soaking up the atmosphere.
You won’t be able to resist the allure of the mountains, and trekking in the Himalaya is a must do on any Nepal itinerary. There are options for all ages and abilities, and treks can range from short 3 day excursions in the Annapurna range, to a bucket list adventure such as the Everest Base Camp trek. Alternatively a more remote off the beaten track route such as Langtang or Mustang might be what appeals to you. Whatever you choose it will be an unforgettable experience.
Beyond the cities and the mountains there is still much more to discover. Nepal offers fantastic opportunities for outdoor activities such as kayaking and paragliding. These are fun additions to a Nepal itinerary and make it a perfect adventure holiday destination. The country also hosts fabulous national parks. The most accessible of these is Chitwan National Park, which is easy to get to from both Kathmandu and Pokhara. Here you can see the majestic Indian rhinoceroses and Asian elephants, alongside many other flora and fauna. If you prefer a more remote experience, Bardiya National Park in Western Nepal is a great option with an equally incredible array of wildlife, plus it offers the option of more private tours and a greater possibility of seeing the elusive Bengal tiger.
Whatever it is you are looking for on your next adventure holiday, Nepal is an incredible option. Tourism here is well established and there are great transport links between all the main locations and attractions. All our itineraries are bespoke, so whether you are a solo traveller or honeymooners, travelling as a family or post retirement, we can provide the best holiday tailormade to your specific needs, abilities, and interests.
