Panama Canal: you can’t visit Panama without seeing the incredible engineering feat of the Panama Canal. Older children will be fascinated by the history, and everyone will love watching the boats pass through. The Miraflores Locks Visitors Centre is highly recommended.
San Blas Islands: this is a Caribbean paradise made up of islands, glistening sand, and turquoise waters. The best way to experience this area is by island hopping some of the 370 islands. Although not ideal for young children, older children will love this authentic and peaceful adventure. Snorkel incredible reefs or relax under palm trees. Every day will be perfect.
Boquete: there is a myriad of activities here for energetic families and the lush green forests of the highlands will offer some cooler temperatures. A highlight is the hanging bridge, and the whole family will love walking above the tree canopy at the same level as the monkeys!
Bocas Del Toro: covered in rainforest, surrounded by thick mangroves and beaches, Bocas Del Toro is perfect for some relaxation mixed with adventure. You will find the area rich in wildlife, bird life, insects, and underwater wonders, all ready for children to experience.
Gamboa Rainforest Reserve Sloth Sanctuary: children will love seeing the sloths here and learning about how they are being supported. This is also a great location to take a wildlife boat trip down the River Chagres and visit an indigenous Embera tribe in the village of Parara Puru, via the Gatun Lake. On the boat trip you can spot Howler Monkeys and Capuchins.
