2 weeks in Costa Rica
Day 1: San José
Arrive in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica.
Days 2 to 3: Tortuguero National Park
Your next stop, Tortuguero National Park, is located on the Northern Caribbean Coast and is only accessible by boat or light aircraft. The area is diverse with canals, rivers, lagoons and even beaches in a dense rainforest. It is one of the rainiest areas in Costa Rica and home to abundant wildlife as you can observe monkeys, sloths, jaguars, or turtles such as Hawkbills, and Leatherback sea turtle.
Days 4 to 5: Arenal
The next day you will travel to Arenal, where you will spend two nights. The area is renowned for its natural hot springs, fed by the majestic volcano, which dominates the landscape. Enjoy time at leisure to relax in the springs, or if you are looking for something more adventurous to do get busy with the activities on offer. In the evening, a nature walk is included for you to learn about and spot some of the region’s nocturnal wildlife.
Days 6 to 7: Monteverde
You journey to your next destination of Monteverde by crossing the Arenal Lake by boat. The artificial lake is the largest in Costa Rica and provides hydroelectric energy for the country. On reaching Monteverde, you will spend two nights in the cloud forest. This is a renowned area of biodiversity, home to countless wildlife species. Approximately 2.5% of worldwide biodiversity can be found in this part of Costa Rica. The wildlife includes jaguars, ocelots and the colourful quetzal bird. Enjoy a walking tour through one of the area’s reserves where your expert guide will point out some of the native flora and fauna.
Days 8 to 11: Manuel Antonio
Head to Manuel Antonio, located on the central Pacific coast, home to one of Costa Rica’s most famous national parks. Renowned for its vast diversity of tropical plant and wildlife, the area hosts more than 109 different species of mammals such as the howler monkey, the two-toed sloth and the squirrel monkey. Take leisure time to relax on the coast and explore the national park at your own pace.
Day 12: San Jose
For your final night in Costa Rica, head back to San Jose
Day 13: Journey home
Today your international flight will take you home.
