when to go to belize
Belize temperatures are gorgeous all year round. If you are looking for dry weather, December until May is a fantastic time to visit, with warmth really kicking in around February. From June to November you will experience the rainy season, however this time of year shouldn’t be discounted as rainstorms only last a couple of hours. The tropical south has short bursts of rain all year. Diving is superb all year round but, for migratory whale sharks, March to June is best.
Dry Season
December to May
The climate in the dry season is characterised by warm to hot temperatures, sunny days, cooling winds and little rain. March and April are idyllic with little rain, pleasant temperatures and calm, clear water. When rain does fall during the dry season, it typically falls in moderate short spurts resulting in a pleasant cooling effect.
Other considerations
During the high season, especially around the Christmas and Easter holidays, prices are higher. Hotels and attractions are more crowded and small cruises sell out fast. We recommend booking early if you plan to travel during the dry season in Belize.
Belize Rainy Season
June to November
The rainy season is characterised by warm temperatures and brief but sometimes intense rain. The rainforest comes to life with trees and flowers in bloom, which in turn ensures that birds and wildlife are more accessible to visitors. Tropical rainfall occurs in June or early July and the wettest months are September and October. Unless there is a tropical storm, rain typically arrives in showers lasting one to two hours.
Other considerations
This is the low season in Belize so crowds will be less busy
