Perfect Vietnam
Day 1 to 2: Hanoi
Arrive in Hanoi. Explore the city at your own pace today. The following day you will take a private tour of the city, visiting the former home of Ho Chi Minh, the Temple of Literature, and the Fine Arts Museum. The tour will end in Hanoi's Old Quarter, after which you will have free time to discover more.
Day 3: Haiphong
Leave Hanoi in the morning to travel to Lan Ha Bay, from where you will take an afternoon cruise on a traditional Vietnamese junk soaking up the atmosphere of the thousands of limestone islets and caves. You will sleep on the boat tonight.
*Optional add on: if you have the time to add more days to your trip you could exchange this days activity for a 2 night cruise in Halong Bay. This option will give you the time to visit more caves, and kayak into sections of the limestone cliffs that aren’t accessible on the larger boats.
Day 4 to 6: Hue
After witnessing the beautiful sunrise over the bay, cruise back to shore and then travel back to Hanoi in time for your flight to Hue. The following morning you will take a guided tour of the important sites in Hue including the citadel and the mausoleum of Emperor Tu Duc. On your second day in intoxicating Hue, you will head out of town for a cycling tour through the rural areas in this province.
Day 7 to 8: Hoi An
Your journey from Hue to Hoi An will take you past emerald-green rice paddy fields and over the Hai Van Pass, offering spectacular views out to the South China Sea and the Lang Co peninsula. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Hoi An is a beautiful town with lots of local charm and you can spend the day discovering this for yourself. The next day take a guided tour to delve further into the allure of this city. Following the city tour you will drive to the ancient Cham ruins at My Son, a number of Hindu temples, which have a dramatic appearance having been taken over by the surrounding jungle.
Day 9 to 10: Ho Chi Minh City
Having travelled to Da Nang airport, you will take a flight to Ho Chi Minh City in southern Vietnam. From the airport you will stop at the Cu Chi tunnels, which you can explore the inside of if you want, where you can learn about the guerrilla tactics of the Viet Cong during the Vietnam war. Take an evening tour of the city sampling delicious street food and enjoying local entertainment. On your final day you will enjoy a tour of Ho Chi Minh City’s best sites, with the afternoon to relax before your journey home tomorrow.
*Optional add on: Journey into the mystical and fascinating Mekong Delta. Take a long boat tour, learn about local farming practises and visit the floating markets in this intoxicating and undisturbed part of the country.
Day 11: Return home
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
