December to February

This is the best time to visit Thailand for weather, as it is cool and dry. The humidity is also low, which can be an issue with tropical countries. At this time of year you can do everything from cities and beaches, to mountains and jungle walks.

This season is peak season, so if your ‘when to go’ is more about avoiding crowds than perfect weather then this might not be for you.

March to May

These months are the hottest and most humid, although Thailand’s gulf islands are still sunny and dry so this therefore might be the perfect time for a beach escape rather than a trek in the sticky north.

June to August

This time of year marks the monsoon season and it can get very wet! It is possible to travel to Thailand during these months but be ready for rains to range from afternoon showers to major flooding. If you do venture to Thailand in this season then be sure to head north as it is an ideal time to see Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. At this time of year the driest beaches can be found on the eastern side.

As this is out of peak season, the benefit to risking the rains is that there are less crowds.

September to November

If you want to avoid the busy season but weather is still important to you, this could be the best time to go. The rain has abated – except in Koh Samui where the rainy season is October to December – and the temperatures have cooled.
