Day 1 to 3: Luang Prabang

A UNESCO World Heritage site, the town of Luang Prabang is an excellent place to start your Laos adventure. Wander through streets of traditional wooden buildings and temples, and meander along the Mekong taking in the charm of this beautiful town.

There are also a number of exciting things to see and experience in the surrounding area whilst you are here. These include the fabulous temple of Wat Xieng Thong, the spectacular Kuang Si Waterfall, and the nearby Bear Rescue Centre. Another excellent historical site is the charming Royal Palace Museum. An enchanting experience the sacred ritual of ‘Tak Bat’ is not to be missed. We can discuss with you all the options that you can add to make Luang Prabang an unforgettable experience.

Day 4 to 5: Phonsavan

The next stop is Phonsavan in the Xieng Khuang Province. Here you will tour the famous Plain of Jars, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The largest area of Thong Haihin holds over 330 mysterious conglomerate and sandstone jars. On your journey here you take in the exceptional views and visit Hmong or Khmu people and learn more about rural life.

A fascinating place to visit whilst in Phonsavan is the MAG centre, where you can learn about the unexploded mines that pepper the Laos landscape, fall-out from the Vietnam war in the 1960s.

Day 6: Hin Boun

Travelling off the beaten track, today you will visit Wat Phiawat, a ruined temple containing a huge sitting Buddha. The impressive landscape changes throughout the day until you reach Ban Tha Bak, where villagers use old war plane fuel tanks from the Vietnam War as boats. The final stop today is the riverside in Hin Boun.

Day 7 to 8: Thakek

A highlight of any Laos trip, today you will take a tour of the remarkable Kong Lor Caves. You will explore the 7km of these caves on small narrow boats experiencing the extraordinary stalagmites and huge caves. After a short walk on the other side of the caves, you will travel back through them before journeying to Thakek on the Mekong River.

For active individuals, we will add a trek to your itinerary which will take you through valleys and forests into the remote parts of this region. You can swim at Tham Nong Paseum, discover caves of impressive stalagmites and stalactites, and witness 229 bronze Buddhas in Buddha cave.

Day 9 to 10 : Tad Lo

Today takes us from Thakek via Savannakhet to Tad Lo. You will have time to stop off, and wander around beautiful towns and temples.

The following day you will explore the Bolaven Plateau, famous for numerous waterfalls, and tea and coffee plantations. There are optional walks to see plantations, the twin waterfalls of Tad Fan and local villages.

Day 11: Don Khone Island

The next destination takes you to the Si Phan Don archipelago in the Mekong River, Champasak Province in southern Laos. This area is also called Four Thousand Islands and is magnificent. We can arrange for you to explore some of the remote islands which see less tourists. We finish the day at Don Khone Island and watch the sunset over the Mekong river.

Day 12 to 13: Champasak

This morning you will have more time to discover the awesome Si Phan Don, visiting the beautiful Liphi Waterfall. Our next stop is the Khone Phapheng Falls, one of the largest and most powerful waterfalls in Southeast Asia, after which we head to the final stop of your tour, Champasak.

The final day of your holiday will begin with a sunrise view over the outstanding UNESCO World Heritage site of Wat Phou. The historically significant and dramatically situated Khmer temple is an absolute must on any Laos itinerary. The rest of the day will be spent exploring the archaeological site, followed by relaxing in the riverside town of Champasak before your flight tomorrow.
